Donald Trump Jr. posted an image of himself posing with the Smith & Wesson AR-15 style .223 rifle he claims was used by accused shooter Kyle Rittenhouse in Tuesday's killings of two persons and the wounding of another during protests in the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The photo appears to show Trump cradling the weapon after firing it on a shooting range. "It's a sweet rifle with great feel and accuracy," Trump commented in his social media post. "Kyle is a real hero. I'm honored to add his rifle to my huge gun collection and protect it as a revered symbol of law and order." he added.

As the Tuesday Kenosha shooting incident was detailed in a Friday story by CNN, the 17-year-old Rittenhouse was roaming the streets after an 11PM curfew with many other armed and undeputized "militia" who claimed to be protecting the community from crowds protesting the shooting of an apparently unarmed Jason Blake, who is Black, seven times in the back by a White police officer during what was described as a domestic dispute. Blake is reportedly paralyzed below the waist and is handcuffed to his hospital bed.
During a heated encounter on the streets between a group of protesters and several militia members, Rittenhouse fired his weapon several times at unarmed people who appeared in video footage to be yelling and throwing objects toward Rittenhouse. He shot and killed one protester, ran down the street away from the charging crowd, and fired several more shots as others attempted to wrestle the weapon from him and call out to the nearby police. One more person was killed and another wounded. Rittenhouse, who is from Antioch, Illinois, is under arrest and charged with homicide.
While the veracity of Trump's gun provenance claim has yet to be proven, it is unclear how Trump was able to gain possession of the weapon that is part of an ongoing homicide investigation by the Kenosha police and the Wisconsin attorney general's office. Trump hinted in his Instagram post that U.S. Attorney General William Barr may have used some leverage with the Wisconsin attorney general, Josh Kaul. Trump offered this mysterious clue at the end of his Instagram post: "Bill Barr's loyalty to our family and his country is amazing. Democrat AG Kaul was happy that Bill promised to not send in our GREAT federal troops."
When asked by TheObserver.me about how Rittenhouse's rifle ended up in Trump's arsenal, White House press secretary Kayleigh McInerney responded only by saying, "The President's son is a private citizen and is only exercising his 2nd Amendment right to own firearms."
